Assimilation

 How does assimilation affect students?

Assimilation, is the act of changing aspects of one’s identity, including cultural identity, to fit societal standards. Most people feel like they cannot be themselves around others and tend to change things about themselves. Such as, the way they speak, talk or act. This issue happens worldwide. Unfortunately, people don't realize they are just hiding their unique aspects about themselves just to fit in with the rest of the world. What are the different ways assimilation can affect students?

Many students feel the need to assimilate due to society. Some stop wearing traditional because they are ashamed. Instead of feeling embarrasment, students should feel the need to be who they are. However, not everybody is like this. Several students chose to stick to their culture or who they are rather than feel ashamed about who they are. Assimilation is a situation that is basically unavoidable,  since it is done so much that it is what you could call, "accepted". Besides changing the way you look, assimilation also causes some to be afraid to speak up. Those who do this, tend to keep quiet because they are afraid of being judged. To sum up everything that has been stated, assimilation affects students in several different ways.
